I've never gone to this one in particular... but I did a course with a guy in Ambridge who owns a "survival" shop.

The "class" was mostly a waste. He did everything himself - not explaining steps. He did use his platform for a bunch of rants about WHY we'll be needing these skills in the near future (spoiler: it was liberals).

If this is more strictly, "here's how to light a fire, find shelter, etc." I'd probably go.

Fines and tickets are one-time fees based directly on the violation.

Charging someone a monthly "monitoring fee" in a system where people convicted of a crime can only get the lowest-paying jobs is completely immoral.

Charging them with further crimes for their inability to pay those monitoring fees is disgusting.

I hate this intersection (and Swissvale Ave) with the passion of a thousand suns.

The red lights in that area feel like they're timed/designed so that you're guaranteed to never "hit a green."

Syncing the lights for more traffic throughput would be dangerous for the pedestrians who use that intersection.

We need more public transportation options.

For the same reason we don't charge prisoners rent for being in prison.

The state imposes and enforces the law. The state can pay for it.

Monitoring fees, probation fees, and things of the like can prevent someone from getting their life together - and create new "crimes" out of not having enough money.

Being broke should NEVER be criminalized.

I'm in my 40s and rarely out after dark.

During the week though, I'm on Carson daily, and it just feels like a bigger, safer version of Walnut St.

I know this sub in particular is SUPER east end focused, but there are other cool places.

Learning from a mistake pretty much THE sign of "not an idiot."

Cut yourself a ton of slack. People do shitty things and we all get caught in the crossfire.

I'm divorced. I probably won't do it again... but the mistake wasn't necessarily marriage. It was my choice of person.
