Reply to TIL recent research shows the demodex mite, which lives on most humans' skin, has an anus. Contradicting earlier findings. by AudibleNod
Imagine being the post-doc that discovered the mite's missing asshole... The prestige, the glamour, the never living it down.

Reply to TIL: The British Ministry of Pensions distributed Invacars free to disabled people from 1948 until the 1970s. The Invacar was that vehicle. by buzz_uk
That explains the name of a major manufacturer of wheelchairs--Invacare. Drive around much in the Invacar and you will be needing to roll around in an Invacare!

Reply to TIL exactly what it means to be “Hanged, drawn and quartered”: “…fastened to a hurdle, or wooden panel, and drawn by horse to the place of execution, where he was then hanged (almost to the point of death), emasculated, disembowelled, beheaded, and quartered (chopped into four pieces).” by CatsKittensCatsBunny
Pretty sure that was 5 or 6 pieces even though it was called quartering. Easy enough to cut off the arms and legs, head is a bit more work. It is a lot of work to cut a body into 4 even moderately symmetrical pieces.

Reply to comment by AnthillOmbudsman in TIL about the only double barrel cannon in the world. When it was its first tested during the American Civil War, the chain snapped immediately and one ball tore into a nearby cabin, knocking down its chimney; the other spun off erratically and struck a nearby cow, killing it instantly. by ExpertPreference8481
...and what happened to the cow?

I am sure there were at least a couple kids that did not know Mr Comrade rode a bike to school. Hiding it would have made it even cooler and more mysterious.

Have to park your bike inside in a locked room so HS kids don't fuck with it? The horrors!
