You really should just quit because you have no idea what you are talking about. Photocopiers were extremely common in the mid ‘80s. My small rural high school had two in 1985: one in the office, one in the library.

Nonsense. Canon was advertising personal photocopiers in 1985.

I was on Amtrak’s Empire Builder westbound in Montana. Off in the distance, I could see the mountains of Glacier National Park. I thought they were maybe 30 miles away. They were 150.

Does the shake time correlate to the time it takes for the earth to move? I.e. if the quake lasts a minute, does that represent the time for the slip to take place in, or is the slip more instantaneous and the shake time measures the propagation of the rupture? Or something else?
