Reply to Fort McHenry cherry blossom status? by official_STEMbo
I was there yesterday and they're still in peak bloom. That said, we're expecting very high winds over the next 48 hours, so that may affect how many are left. But it's still a great place to visit. These was also a map on this sub a few days ago of all of the cherry trees in Bmore.

When we were kids, my brother spent summers at a friend's farm. He bought a calf (Gracie) and raised it to be slaughtered and sold. My dad wrote an article for the Sun about this circle of life, and for WEEKS afterwards, people would call us (old days, phone book, home phone) and shout "MURDERERS!!!!" Not too nice for a bunch of kids, who hadn't thought of it like that. And yes, we did eat Grace!

Reply to Cost friendly vet recommendations? by Good-Carpet4251
The SPCA has a neighborhood vet clinic. They were closed during the pandemic, but look to be open now. They give you the cost of everything up front. They also have clinics for shots and spay/neuter. One year, they did a holiday special for spay/neuter/shots/nails. Merry Christmas, puppy!!!

I'd like to go back & can't figure out what it's called or where it is. I tried Yelp and can't find it. (I hope it's still there! If not, I'd appreciate other suggestions.) by rgbarometer
No restaurant there anymore. And it's not a boutique hotel anymore, either. It seems like a flop-house/airbnb if their clientele is anything to go by.
Source: my parking lot backs up to that building.

Honestly, I don't think Gertrude's is really kid-friendly, unless they are well-behaved. Gertrudes caters to the museum crowd.

There are several restaurants on Washington Blvd. just off of MLK, which is about 1/4 mile from 2nd Chance.

Actually, the flag bears the arms of the Calvert and Crossland families, and pre-dates the Civil War by 200+ years.

Someone on FB recommended NBS Seafood down on Dorsey Road. I went down there to pick up some boudin, and like anyplace you want good boudin, it's in a shack. They had fresh and frozen crawfish, but call ahead, they have odd hours.

That highway ramp is 1) very small; 2) off of Calvert Street; 3) not well-used; and 4) not a problem.

According to my chef friends, a stage is also like a try-out in a kitchen for the executive chef to see how well you can prep and cook and see your technique.

Most of the Bradfords are 40+ years old and were the city tree of choice at the time. As they age/die, the city’s forestry program is replacing them with a hardier tree. Things change as we understand the issues more clearly and the city’s forestry program is changing with the times.

Is Nick's still open? Someone told me it had closed. I know there is a lot of construction down that way now. Having friends here from the UK, and thought it would be fun to take them there.

Depends on how thick the brick is... Sometimes it's only one brick thick because both sides had plaster on the walls. When that was taken off, it went back to being one porous brick thick.
