The Edward R. Murrow High School is located in Midwood, Brooklyn.

It’s extremely inconvenient to be assigned to the existing shelter on Randall’s Island. You can’t reasonably expect homeless people to turn their lives around when it’s so difficult to commute to work.

Seriously, just use another word then, one that doesn’t imply people are outsiders in their birth country.

Identifying with “the immigrant community” (whatever that means, when immigrants come from literally everywhere and ascribe to wildly different worldviews) doesn’t make one an immigrant.

Do you know what “immigrant” means? Use another word. People born in America cannot be immigrants in America.

That’s an extremely broad group to generalize, but also second-generation Americans are not immigrants, let alone recent immigrants. Don’t call people who were born in America immigrants. That’s not what the word means.

I’m really hoping they don’t know the origin of the word “ghetto,” because yikes.

Recent immigrants don’t vote. You can’t just immigrate and suddenly become a citizen.

Of course you should be concerned, but the national trend would suggest it’s not largely due to local political decisions.
Same as crime. Your not-so-subtle implication of hypocrisy is broke.

I’d like to add driving the wrong way on one-way streets. I don’t recall seeing that nearly as often a few years ago, but now I regularly see drivers do it to avoid driving an extra block. It’s like a bunch of people collectively decided their convenience overrides traffic law.

It’s a lot easier to have single building owner with tenants when you have such big buildings. Sure, they could do it condo-style, but developers don’t want that. Tenants want the stability of ownership but property developers aren’t willing to split up the building, so 99-year leases are the compromise.
