Those aluminim-looking thermal emergency blankets make excellent extra lining.

Remember that cats need an opening of only about five-and-a-half or six inches in diameter, or the width of their whiskers. Make the entrance as small as possible to avoid other animals.

They have some great advice I've used before in my shelters! Thanks for taking care of the outdoor floofs.

Haha sorry, I should have said /s.

The man's erection was super glued inside his dead paramour and they have to be transported to the hospital as-is and I don't think we ever see or hear from them again. They were just another clue to the serial killer.

The whole season is deeply visceral though- not just the gore and trigger warnings, but the atmosphere, colors and textures. It's a rough watch if you can't detach.

If you find Little isn't adaptive to indoor only life, get a slip-on tag (that slides over his collar instead of hanging down) for his collar and with your phone#, also have it say "indoor/outdoor cat" so people know he's not abandoned! That is what we did with our rescue feral that struggled to adapt.

I'm mad I'm missing out on so many good Halloween things because I have to work this weekend, but I've got relatives visiting so I'm taking Monday off to see them.

Damn, that sucks. Are they using card skimmers, or something else, do you know!? I only check for card skimmers out of habit now because of years living in NYC, where they're rampant. So far haven't met any on RVA though.

I feel like every single time I'm on the road now I have a heart-racingly close encounter with some asshole or lunatic on the road. Used to happen maybe once a week but now it's every day, often multiple times a day. I've been side swiped twice by people just pulling into my lane without looking out caring, and driving off. Some loon PULLED OUT A HANDGUN AND FIRED IT INTO THE AIR while cutting me off at the intersection of Broad and 18th. I dunno what happened during the pandemic but it ain't good for my anxiety.

We drove all the way to Haunted Hunt Club Farm and back last night. It was a beautifully done series of haunts, with overcrowded and poorly timed line management. Sat in line in the car to get in the gate for an hour with line cutters rampant, and bunched up crowds through the attractions that ruined the moments and made us feel rushed. Glad we finally went but don't think I'll go again next year. Thanks for the info on Ashlandberry and Red Vein. Are there any other nearby haunts/events you like?

Treating the animals raised with kindness and compassion, and only ever taking what you need. Being sure to use the whole animal. Making sure farming practices are wholesome and sustainable.

I am not a meat eater but I don't see this as a black and white, vegan or not vegan, situation.

Well, you're clearly not interested in talking civilly or doing actual research, but anyways- for anyone else reading along:

As someone who has worked in animal care and welfare for 20 years....

Pitbulls, rottweilers and German shepherds have some of the strongest jaws of all breeds. When they do bite, they do SERIOUS DAMAGE. Those bites are almost always reported and recorded, which is why the stats skew that way.

When the family golden, doodle, poodle, hound, Chihuahua, etc bite, it's usually much less severe, and is therefore often not reported at all. It's really hard to get a proper data set because there are lots of unreported bites out there (we often learn about them at our practice after the fact).

Additionally, pitbulls are one of the most abused breeds in the U.S.A. which means that a pitbull with a bad owner or history of abuse is more likely to lash out.

Anyways, I am happy to provide sources if anyone wants. Otherwise, I'm not super stoked about continuing this "debate" with an abusive and close-minded person. Hope y'all are having a great day, and give your furry babies a smooch from me!
