Yes, i did remove the wiring some 25 years ago since the fabric was quite deteriorated and put modern ones but never get a clean result, i want to restore them in the near future with fabric sleeving wires and a TRS connector that i have and is period correct, the otiginal connector were banana plugs and the sound was mono.

This headphones were from my grandfather who worked as manager on a port, so i think it was used in a marine setting, they're too hard to drive since the sound comes from a nickel plated metal circle, the frequency response is quite tight but surprisingly clear for voice communication performing quite well 100 years ago on a radio communications station.

On the same price range the AKG K240 MK II or Studio are a great option.
I have the MK II and they're great, supero responsive and natural. You can't go wrong there.

1st i have some hammerheads and they sound great for "cheap" earphones, on par with others i have from sennheiser and the like
2nd the reviews are very biased, sometimes a publisher or reviewer can praise something only to come a year later and bashit, i use them as a small reference for what to espect and for mesurable information, but there' a lot that is subjetable so not a good place to trust
And finally there's your taste, maybe you like a bassier sound, maybe the epos are for calls and not music so the equalization is not for you, there's a lot to take in about how they sound.
You can use a equalizer app on your cellpnone or PC to try'n fix what you don't like about them.

I can only find the impedance....4kOhm.
For what i remember they were all mids, absolutely no bass there.
