Might as well tell them, but I'm not sure how much they'll help if you're not going to fight it yourself.

You should report this to... the relevant authority, which I'm not sure who it is. If they bother to actually look into it, it could scare your landlord into giving it back. Otherwise, you could sue them in small claims court if you ever move out.

Except that they claim to cover out-of-state emergencies. Based on this experience, I wouldn't be surprised if they kicked you out of the hospital after a car hit you once your vitals were stable. "Need a CT? Fly back to Massachusetts!"

But "fuck you" is what they'll tell you if you need a (nonemergency) service outside of Massachusetts. In fact, I know someone who was in the DC area and an ER doctor called MassHealth claiming that they needed something emergently, and MassHealth vetoed the doctor and told them to fly back to a Massachusetts hospital.

Maybe it's not Boston, but there are some jobs in software and IT with a smaller and less competitive group of people trying to get them.

I suppose not, but you also don't need to make as much money out there as in Boston and the immediate area.

You can reasonably commute to Springfield or Hartford (or even Worcester, but that's stretching it) if you needed work.

I don't think the motto is problematic, but in conjunction with the symbolism of the seal/flag it's a little irksome.

Only on the appreciation after write offs. It appreciated by $1,400,000 - $300,000 = $1,100,000. Then you get to write off at least $250,000, so you're only taxed on at most $850,000 and the law doesn't even apply to you. (Unless you make more than $150,000 some other way. So in order to even hit that $4k in taxes you'd need to have a salary of $550k in addition to all this, or more if you're married.)

This is the part that confuses me. Does a ship have to be built in the US to be US flagged? I would expect a ship built in Korea and owned by a US company could transport gas, notwithstanding the economics of it.
I guess you're probably right about the Jones Act though.

How can they be out-competed if foreign ships can't do domestic routes? There must be some solution here. Subsidies maybe? Seems more important than cattle farming, but I'm probably missing the scale of the oil industry.

But I mean just to ship natural gas from US ports to US ports. There is no international competition since foreign ships can't do it due to the Jones Act.

I feel like this is just an excuse. We can buy ships from Korea, can't we? We certainly buy oil rigs that are made there.
