Reply to ELI5 how do game patches work? by redlunarwolff
My game might have 10 files file1 to file10, and every file is 10 MB. I make a patch which:
-
Adds new content => I need to create a new file11 for the content, 10 MB for that
-
Fixes a bug in some old content => I upload new version of file3, another 10MB
-
Adds cross-functionality with new file11, so I need to upload the main game in file1, another 10MB.
So in total, I will upload 3 files, total of 30MB. However, since two of these files replace old ones, only one is new, the game size goes from 100 MB to 110MB, not 130 MB, since I can delete the old versions of file1 and file3.

There's a pretty easy distinction to make: "Posts that can be considered advertising for a for-profit company are not allowed".
Want to sell a story just cause you think it's interesting? Sure. Make a post because you want my money? Fuck off.

We've got ads on web pages, ads in phone notifications, ads in paid subscription TV shows, do we really also need the OC to be ads too?

How about we don't allow blatant commercial posts by companies on this subreddit?

Reply to If the Human Genome Project represents a map of the genome of a few individuals, why is this relevant to humans as a whole if everybody has different genetics? by bjardd
If you were to only map one person, how would you know which parts are specific to him and which parts are common between all humans?
But if you map enough genomes of people with different traits, you can start to actually figure out which genes might affect what or which genes are more or less common in a certain population.

Reply to As they still have a neutral charge, can antineutrons replace neutrons in a regular atom? by Oheligud
In addition to what u/ChromaticDragon already mentioned, if I recall correctly, it would in theory be possible to have an atomic nucleus comprised of protons and antineutrons. However, the protons consist of 3 quarks (uud) and the neutrons consist of 3 antiquarks (-udd).
=> The atom would not be very stable, as the quarks might interact and annihilate with the antiquarks.
