Halal Food Cart is the answer if you want to take food back to the courthouse. But there are still a good number of old favorites open- Cafe Poupon, David and Dads, Werners, are some good eat-in options. La Calle I think is open at lunch if you want to take it up a notch.

I agree it needs to change- but I think the OPs point stands. New Orleans has one of the highest homicide rates in the US and has for a while, but still has a lot of positive image- you don't hear the same level of rhetoric about New Orleans as Baltimore, and more of a focus still on a fun place to go.

Reply to I was robbed by a group of children :/ by ElFello93
They have guns and knives- always do what they say- even if they don't, there's a lot more of them than you. Always avoid groups of kids- don't run but try to change directions, get somewhere around people. These are the scariest predators in the city because they have absolutely no understanding of consequences (which are insignificant for children) and so will act unpredictably.
NewrytStarcommander t1_iw4wob8 wrote
You take them out in Mt. Vernon, and they ask you why there's a 200-foot tall erect penis with George Washington spurting out of the top, making you feel completely inadequate in comparison.

I still use it as the live data and cut-run and projected cut-run data is way better than other options (thought not always accurate still), but the trip planning has gotten terrible for me. It ignores buses that are closest to me and that it even shows as live and on-time; just doesn't show them as options when trip planning, and tries to give me completely non-sensical routings (like walking 20 minutes) etc. Don't know what's up with that.

It's not, it's someone either intentionally or with limited information conflating a bunch of different things to try to score a political point.

That's my guess is that it was going to be the Arena- this would have been about the time the current Arena was in planning probably. I didn't look it up but from seeing other old maps, that was going to be 83 connecting to 95 I think.

That's a strange building with the highway off-ramp onto it's roof. What a terrible vision overall- thankfully the people resisted and save Fed Hill and the Inner Harbor from becoming asphalt wasteland- you want to envision what this would have looked like, go stand under the 395 overpass at the Stadium parking lots.

Abandonment of the water connection. Doesn't affect property ownership. Though I don't know Baltimore's rules on this- it occurred to me that there still might be a stormwater fee for impermeable surfaced properties or something. Check DPW website, they'll have guidance on abandonment, or give them a call.

You should be able to apply for an abandonment on the property with no connection, I don't know the process or cost in Baltimore.

Me too, I bought my house 3.5 years ago, and has only gone up twice, and by minimal amount. The why is the consent decree and the aging infrastructure. The increase the OP is talking about is definitely not tracking the last few years of rate increases but is reflecting something else.

Reply to Water Bill (RANT) by The_Waxies_Dargle
Why has it increased that much? Seems likely you have something leaking. The rates went up in July I think, but not that much- mine went from like $82/month to $87/month. Yours went from $27/month to $120 a month so something is way off (though how the heck you were at $27/month I have no idea- the base infrastructure charge is more than that- maybe you had a credit that was being applied pro-rated? Or something wrong with your prior billing). So I'd be really drilling in and looking at your consumption data on the portal- if it shows consumption during nightime hours on the dashboard, there's your culprit. For reference I use 2 CCF for a single person, watering some plants outside but otherwise being pretty careful with my use, 5/8" service inlet.

Nothing outstanding in the immediate Inner Harbor area- best bet would be go to LP Steamers in Locus Point- can walk from Inner Harbor or ride the Banner Circulator. Nicks Fish House is also a short Uber ride away.

the Maryland Zoo has a farmyard exhibit with ponies, goats and sheep and what not, it's been a while I think you can pet them.

What are you into? I'd say if you want to stay downtown do Ft McHenry, aquarium, Walter's Art Museum. AVAM is good. I really like Baltimore Museum of Industry and B&O Museum but might not be for everyone. Visit Fells Point. Mt. Vernon for nice neighborhood strolls to enjoy the architecture. Rawlings Conservatory is a pita to get to but really cool and often overlooked. A couple cool house museums are Mt Clare, Evergreen, Homewood.
