Reply to The now mostly-defunct Pathmark chain briefly had a Central Pennsylvania presence. This 1987 screengrab from a Harrisburg Patriot-News/PennLive video shows the Pathmark location in Lower Paxton Township. This location closed sometime in the early 90s. They also had locations in York and Camp Hill by AxlCobainVedder
My understanding is the one in Camp Hill became the 2nd location for the Camp Hill Giant. It explains why that store was so different than any other Giant. The current Camp Hill Giant is the 3rd incarnation of the Camp Hill Giant.
I was very young but I vaguely remember the first location being where the Penn State Health building is near 30th Street.
I miss the Camp Hill mall as an indoor mall.

Tax breaks like this drive me insane. I would love to see a good study on how often these work out for the municipality, because my gut feeling is less than half the time. For the company they are awesome because I can just go shopping to see who gives me the best deal.
Free public transportation could result in more people being able to work, or spend money at business, or drive less miles, all of which would have societal benefits…but nah, we can’t have that. Not to mention, the cost of collecting the fares goes away and the transit agencies can focus more on service.

You can make a nice fall loop out of PA 120 W Lock Haven to Renovo, PA 144 S to Moshannon, PA 879 W to Clearfield, PA 153 N to PA 255 N to PA 555 E to Medix Run, Quehanna Highway E back to PA 879 E at Karthaus, PA 144 S to Milesburg, and PA 150 N back to Lock Haven.

As a whole, maybe I-176, it’s relatively empty of traffic. I-276 is probably the most well built interstate as a whole.
For individual sections, agree with 99 between Tyrone and State College. 81 between 78 and 80 can be pretty especially in the fall. 376 EB has the most dramatic entrance out of the Fort Pitt Tunnel. 76 between Carlisle and Breezewood can be scenic. I kind of like 80 between Clearfield and Milesburg too.
If we’re cheating with non-Interstate freeways, also agree US 15 north of Williamsport and US 322 between Potters Mills and Harrisburg are some of the best road scenery in the state. US 11/15 North between Duncannon and Selinsgrove has some nice river views in the morning. US 222 North has some nice views of Reading from afar too. And I love US 30 crossing the Susquehanna.

Seconded on Dry Run Falls, discovered it sort of by accident a few years ago. Definitely check road conditions, as it’s unpaved.

This is correct. For all the things PA Turnpike does wrong, “transponder discrimination” is not one of them. Someone with an Ohio Turnpike EZPass pays the same $1.70 I do to cross the Susquehanna. Unlike some other states NEW YORK an EZPass is an EZPass here.

As I recall the Turnpike even tested out accepting credit cards at a few smaller interchanges like Willow Hill. This would have probably been c. 2018-19.

York County has at least two incorporated boroughs with fewer than 300 people. Wellsville and Cross Roads. WHY????
