I always assumed that Carrie’s mam was either abused or a bit of a slut and didn’t know who the dad was ….and this is why she was a religious nut when Carrie was growing up because she was trying to wash her own sins away

Was years ago when I read Carrie (actually first King book I read) but I probably took everything about Carrie’s dad with a pinch of salt.

Faster reading myself. Though I recently found if I speed up the audio usually to 1.1 or 1.2 then it’s a bit better for me coz it’s more at a speed id have a normal conversation

I find if I leave an audiobook as it is then it’s just too slow and I get bored, unless I’m on a long road trip

Just finished it this morning and was going to see if anyone else had mentioned it.

Enjoyed it more than I thought I would. The storyline was also different to what I thought.

I am sad that the Gareth plotline hung on the sides for so long then was cut short by the war

I read them at uni so a bit older than the target audience. I enjoyed them. Easy to read but also found it obvious to guess who bad guys were etc who certain children were really etc.

Easy read though. And i like Greek mythology so that added to my enjoyment

Controversial but I also liked the films. Looking forward to the tv series even though I’m now in my 30s haha.

Ah ok, that seems to be people moaning about the film so I’d assume most of those idiots haven’t read the book then as she is described as brown skinned in the book.

But is there anyone who moaned when the book came out that there was a black character? That’s what I assumed the OP was getting at
