The shuttle schedule is temporary for the soft opening and will only last several weeks.

DSNY is the most functional agency when it comes to this sort of thing.

This is a great sight to see but also makes me nostalgic for years growing up in Chinatown and nearly blowing my hands off several times every year when they closed off Mott St and it was a free for all of fireworks. We used to light fuses with chinese incense.

There's like 10,000 LinkNYC stations to make free calls from.

SUV driver was probably a cop who was recognized as one of their own by the cops standing around.

Peek into any ebike shop in Chinatown and you'll see a huge array of batteries being charged simultaneously. Are we supposed to trust the shopkeepers aren't leaving these unattended while charging overnight? I wouldn't feel safe renting an apartment with an ebike shop on the ground floor.

I think the plastic bag ban had its hiccups in the beginning but everyone has adjusted. A plastic straw ban might get the ptichforks out though.

If you're forced to opt-in to something it creates an additional hurdle to discourage use. The same reasons some blue states offer automatic voter registration while red states have strict ID laws and keep limited DMV hours/locations for folks to obtain said IDs.

Broadway just north of Harold Square is hardly teeming with traffic midday since it became predominantly pedestrianized. Cars needing to travel north-south use the surrounding avenues since it isn't cut off like Broadway is at Times, Harold, and Union Squares.

Relax everyone that looks like Broadway just north of Macy's where there's only 1 traffic lane anyway before it becomes a pedestrian only area south of 35th St and cars are forced to make a right. Nobody uses Broadway as a primary thoroughfare between Columbus Circle and Union Sq. I also suspect the video being titled "shuts down Broadway" was a creative interpretation of events. God forbid we have a little vibrancy in our otherwise soul-draining city.
