I'm guessing the train is gonna be out of service, so they're making passengers get off there before it heads to the yard?

Sunset Park to Lower Manhattan is about 30-40 minutes on the R train.
JC to Lower Manhattan cab be about 10 minutes on the PATH + depending on how far you live from the PATH (service is not as widespread compared to the NYC Subway)
Do you have any personal hobbies or interests in Brooklyn?

It's your money, you do what you want.
I like to ride trains for fun too, but I'm not gonna spend big bucks on Amtrak tickets, especially Acela, to travel within the state or to NYC.
Acela, I'd probably save that if I wanna visit Boston or DC

Bayonne resident here, our roads are okay. Broadway seems to be a less bumpier than Garfield, and they recently did some paving along Avenue A not too long ago

Seconding this: Also, taxi fare from Manhattan is a flat $52 minus toll/tip. Might be cheaper than getting a Uber

- Bus lane/BRT along JFK from Bayonne to North Bergen.
- Extend the light rail to Bergen County and/or connect it to the Newark Light Rail
- Add a PATH line connecting Journal Square to Greenville and Bayonne like u/HappyArtichoke7729 suggested, could be routed along the National Docks Secondary
- The Cross-Harbor Rail Tunnel to connect freight lines between NJ and Long Island.

There used to be a ferry connecting Perth Amboy to Tottenville, but it got discontinued since the early 60s.
