Using a phone and moving a book isn’t selfish or stupid lmao, maybe like a reasonable person she would assume the rules are superstitious nonsense? Or even just weird control moves. Where did she show poor work ethic? The stupid thing to do would blindly accept these rules as actually important to uphold in any way, besides answering the phone

Because theres never been a consequence to breaking these rules in recorded history, so the reasonable assumption is that following the rules is not life or death. Anybody in that position would just assume Eric is a superstitious weirdo loner, or even some sorta criminal with the absolutely off limits areas
