My former employer would run simulations for new models of their products (ex: identify design flaws in aerodynamics). Every ounce of power reduced the lead time to get all our results for a given model / design iteration. I don’t understand anything that was actually going on there, but I know that our lead times highly depended on the “super power” 😅

Ok, but why would supercomputers suck? Are they not equipped with arrays of GPUs as well?

Right. I guess what you are saying is you prefer to control the composition of the array of CPUs/GPUs, rather than rely on a “static” supercomputer, right?
