I read somewhere that people need about 80hrs together to go from acquaintance to friend. While I wouldn’t consider that specific number gospel, friendship takes consistent time together to form, which is why random meet-up groups didn’t work for me even though I really liked the people I met. I would look for clubs that meet consistently once or more every week that don’t have high turnover. Perhaps volunteer at a museum? Or take a cooking class? Even though it didn’t work for me, if you’re able to find a meet up group for, say, a type of live music that meets regularly and doesn’t have high turnover, it might work for you.
