Interesting this subject comes up but I just stumbled upon this Zillow listing (https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/1612-McHenry-St-Baltimore-MD-21223/294976026_zpid/?utm_campaign=iosappmessage&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=txtshare) this morning and reading the description it sounds like they are renovating 20 houses and targeting artists. It’s in Mount Clare so your boarding the up and coming Pigtown with plenty of walkable spots (old Major, Pickett, Wico, suspended, Zekes), Hollins Market ( redoing of the market, Zella’s and Backyard), and Union square. I wouldn’t say it’s desirable but I’d say it looks a lot like a Highlandtown situation 10-15 years ago. If anyone has any insight on this project that would be great.

I would love to see this keep being a garden but this is prime real estate and in todays market it’s going to go for top dollar and the fact it’s owned by a publicly traded company it’s as good as gone. I hope I’m wrong because I really hate the new home builds that are going in. They suck any kind of charm out of the block let alone neighborhood. God speed.

Honestly, I feel safer where I live now then when I lived in Paterson Park/Canton/Fed. The amount of shit you deal with as far as break ins, car jackings, muggings was starting to weigh on me. Also, I stopped counting how many times my car got broken into. I want to recommend my neighborhood but I know being away from bars nightlife really deters people but it’s a quick walk to Pigtown/Fed and even quicker by bike.

This sounds about right. I rented a 1100 sq/ft studio with free parking for $950 from 2020-2022. The PM sent me an email one day saying they were going to up my rent if I were to renew to $1900. My email back to them “Go fuck yourself” and ended up buying my house a month later. This is the direction the city is going in if you want to live in Canton/Fed/Fells and the property management companies know they can get away with it because people are dumb enough to pay those prices. There are plenty of other places to live where you can pay half the price.

Compassion for individuals ruining peoples lives that struggle with drug addiction? What they are doing enabling and capitalizing from these peoples addiction. You’re extremely out of touch and inhumane if you think letting this go on is the right thing to do.
