Literally go into a football changing room 10 years ago when I was playing as a kid and you were called a "poof", "bent", "gay", even when you weren't.

There was targeted homophobia towards people who weren't gay, but people suspected you were.

Since then, it's more not feeling comfortable to come out particular when people speak about gay people as if they are not around. There's definitely less homophobia than before hence why a prominent player has come out.

There was an investigation into the Tokyo 2020 organising committee board (notably separate from the IOC) likely due to the closeness of certain members with the ad agencies.

A lot of this corruption stems through Takahashi. Bids were "open" but were effectively handed to preferred agencies, with nearly half the test events having one bidder in each category. Believe it was 26 of the 56 or something.

Don't know why anyone down voted you, it's true.

The move to all seater stadia in England was detrimental to crowds, because safe standing was never considered. Cost of matches are sky high and have effectively priced out the working class.

Sky deals of the earlier 90s was the luck the English league needed. I feel like the early 2000s had the best equality across the top leagues.

I get what you're saying, but surely that shows they're capable of the 3 hours and should factor into it.

Like if I do the local parkrun I might dip under 16 mins on a good day. Low 15 when it's a high quality 5k that's basically not a solo run. But I'm always aware that those fast races are where the true pace will show.

The thing that interests me the most is how much of a motivator the hour mark is as a target.

And funnily enough, with better pacing experience how much quicker fun runners could go than "sub 4", "sub 3" etc if there was finer understanding of how quick they're capable of going. You see it start to stabilise around 2.45 because anyone under that is doing very specific training and usually has a great amount of experience pacing.
