The market is what created the insane price in the first place, dude.
Do you think it was the feds telling them to charge $1200??

I think hospitals would still have to test due to federal regulations/licensure

Makes sense, it's a new, legally gray industry, they're not wanting to get the hammer cause they know they will the second they step out of line.

"For various reasons"
$1200/month studio apartments and mental healthcare being a luxury service reserved for the middle-class and up are probably the biggest reasons.

Can confirm the same experience in the city/suburbs. Every gated-community dwelling accountant has a lifted truck with 6 lights so it's almost impossible to see road markings and pedestrians.
Glad to know they can see tho, cause I sure can't

Really sounds like those cops were desperate for the family to drop it with all that nonsense about a heart attack. So dismissive in literally the worst possible moment. Someone definitely knows the murderer/his family in the Sheriff's Office, I'd bet money on it, they really wanted the Christensens to think it was an accident, even when they had a suspect.

Capitalism is about getting the most money possible, period. If not reigned in, they simply boost the price and force you to pay it (in the case of insulin, the consequences for not buying the product is death).
We have about as "free" a market as it gets in the modern world, it's burning the planet and killing us in swathes. Letting companies do whatever they want means ruin for the average person.
Regulation got us a 40-hour workweek and safety regulations, the free market gave us 50ยข/hr wages and child labor.
