One of my friends is the president of the professors/graduate students labor union at NJIT. It’s the same deal over there too. TA’s make about $30,000 a year, which is disgustingly low. Many TA’s can’t even afford to live in the immediate area of the campus. They’re actively campaigning for pay raises, in addition to other benefits that they’d like initiated.

And the traffic was probably caused by a dude going 65mph in the left lane and another dude texting while driving so he was swerving all over the place. I hate driving in this state. Y’all are awful drivers.

I’m surprised the American Dream Mall even has this much traffic. Idk much about it, but from what I understand the mall isn’t exactly close to anything or convenient to get to. Like, if I’m leaving my job in NYC and thinking “Oh on the way home I should buy a gift for mom’s birthday” I’m not going to make the effort to go to the ADM.

Honestly fuck car dealerships. I wish for a day when this old, antiquated scam of a business model is gone and we can just buy cars directly from the manufacturer. Why is it that in order to buy a car I have to go through a 3rd party that will try to take on bullshit accessories, markup fees, bullshit warranties, etc. and I have to sit with these scumbag salespeople over the course of days to make a purchase. I will never buy a new car again unless I can buy it exclusively online and have it delivered to my house.

You know, the more I read about the absolute greed and graft of the government, be it local, state, or federal, the more libertarianism starts to make sense. They might be onto something.

The government steals billions of dollars from us every year and yet we never see an improvement in the quality of life for us working class people. I’ve been using NJ Transit and Port Authority services for almost a decade; using NJ Transit buses to go to and from work in NYC. Tolls have gone up and bus tickets have all gone up in prices too. And yet there’s nothing to show for it. Same shitty tunnel and bridge crossings, buses have actually gotten worse in terms of delays or straight up not showing up, same awful traffic situations. Like…where’s the supposedly “better service” they told us they were going to spend our money on?

Unfortunately in our capitalistic hellscape many white collar workers are being forced to come back to offices even though their jobs can easily be done at home or remotely elsewhere.

The only people that actually want workers back in offices are middle managers that like to micromanage everyone and commercial real estate investors, because God forbid they lose a few dollars investing in a stupid antiquated concept.

Nothing will ever change driving culture in our state IMO. Even before Covid we had terrible habits and drivers everywhere. Now we’re in an era where everyone is even more angry and aggressive than before. You honking a horn at a bad driver might get your ass kicked or shot at.

The only way we might change things is if we start making the laws more aggressive and strictly enforce it. But between a general lack of trust in police officers nowadays and even the cops tolerating bad behavior, that’s not going to happen anytime soon.

And the thing is…we not only accept it, but we encourage it too. One thing I can’t stand about NJ culture is we celebrate unsafe, dick-ish driving. Basically our state attitude toward driving is “Lol doing 80 on the GSP move bitch get out of the way”.

NJ driving culture needs to change. We all make fun of bad NY and PA drivers, but from what I see, our state has a metric ton of bad drivers and practices too.
