I’m thinking outlanders should have checked to see how often Mainers loose power before making the decision to move here. I’ve always lived in Southern Maine and there have been times we have lost power in my 62 years of life, but beyond Freeport….it’s a given!!

I’m 62 and I don’t know anyone in and around my age who complains about the weather here in Maine. The saying has always been, don’t like the weather in Maine…wait a minute it will change. I see more young people come on this page and complain about us older people. Why is that we have to change…we’ve lived here our entire lives….it’s new people who need to get over themselves.

I took pics of these yesterday as it was the first time I’ve seen them here, like that. I’m 62 and lived here most of my life. My husband 72 has never seen them here either. Weird!

Reply to 286 Thanksgiving dinner boxes that will go to struggling families in Lincoln County. by StarKillerX7
That’s awesome! We gave four turkeys to our local food pantry. People are struggling and we aren’t right now.
My childhood thanksgiving consisted of, turkey, mashed potatoes, mashed squash, mashed turnip, gravy, stuffing, cranberry sauce, grapes and assorted nuts. Pumpkin pie, apple pie and blueberry pie. Over the many years…things have gotten removed.

Back in 2013, my husband and I drove around the back road of West Virginia on a motor cycle, I have never in my life seen such poverty. Blankets hanging where windows should be, and people were actually living there. The poverty in that state is much worse than Maine. When we visited my husbands friend, he told us to park our bike in a friends barn, as there would be nothing left of it the next day. Moonshine everywhere and every kind imaginable. And because our RV was older than dirt, we had to stay in derelict campgrounds. The campground in Indiana was riddled with sex offenders and domestic violence offenders. I never in my life felt so unsafe. It’s not just Maine, trust me. I took a statistics course in the 90’s at USM and most statistics are skewed. You find what you are looking for.
