Reply to comment by BarbaraJames_75 in 1,000 Legal Aid workers in New York City hold walkout in contract struggle by DrogDrill
To be honest part of the problem was Legal Aid (and other tenant lawyer organizations) have taken cases for non-tensnts. Fired supers, squatters, individuals with no possessory interest (ie not residing in a rent stabilized apt). Probably did that to get funds. But they made their lawyers and staff continue handling these cases when there are now tenants in non payment cases who can't get lawyers. so poor management and probably financial greed (ironic) caused a lot of the overwork.

So then he should just sell the damn place for peanuts and movie on with his life. But I bet he has the cash

Yeah I doubt they learned their lesson. They don't think "oh I picked a real liar and thief maybe I should consider some of my beliefs and opinions are awful and attract people like that" its more like "oh its just ONE bad guy can't be me"

What Thompson did was wrong and her being there is a waste of taxpayer money. Strangely I always found her to be a smart, thoughtful and courteous judge whenever I deal with her. So I’m torn by all this

Reply to Where Are the Free Housing Attorneys NYC Promised to Tenants Facing Eviction? - Hell Gate by LittleWind_
There are way too many of these "tenant" attorneys orgs who get stuck taking cases not involving "tenants" (fired supers who just won't leave, alleged squatters) so of course it's going to create a gap. the law was entitled to help protect tenants from eviction not just any person from eviction

Reply to NYC tenants report rampant housing discrimination by landlords over vouchers by DrogDrill
Lots of landlords are concerned not by vouchers (the rent payments are fine) but by terms/docs that must be signed (ie agreeing not raise rents etc). If voucher was just payment then I think some of these issues might be reduced
