We own both cars. There isn’t an “old” car. I want to switch the plates between the two cars—eg, get my vanity plates (with my initials) on “my” car (the car I drive 99% of the time) and put the Loon (conservation) plates on my husband’s car.

I have used “old” plates on new cars—I know about that. This is a little bit different and I was wondering what the process is. Thanks!

I have a set of vanity plates with my initials on one car, and a set of Loon (conservation) plates on the other car. Between car purchases and trades, my husband is now driving the car with my initial plates, and the Loon plates are on my car. Is it worth the effort and expense to switch them between the cars (so my initial plates are on my car)? Any idea what this would cost? The initial plates expire/need to be re-registered in June and the Loon plates are due to be re-registered in September. Thanks for any advice.

Look on your bill. It breaks it down to your delivery service (CMP) and your Electricity Supplier. If you haven't selected a supplier, then you will have the standard offer--the rate for this has gone up 3 times in 3 years, as noted in the other post.

You may have switched to another supplier at some time in the past and forgot you did so. In that case, it would be worthwhile to do some research and see if it is worth it to switch to the "standard offer" or a different supplier. I switched to CN Brown in Nov 21 and locked in the rate of $0.1067 for two years. That was a good (lucky) decision on my part as that is what I am paying now. We'll see where things are come Nov of this year.

As others have said, dehumidifiers are expensive. Do you really need that in the winter? Where is your heat pump hot water heater located? It can also provide dehumidification. With ours, which is in the basement, we were able to turn the dehumidifier off and saved $100 month.

Also, consider using only cold water for laundry. https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-solutions/2022/11/29/laundry-cold-water-environment/

If you are taking Amtrak, you will need to change trains and stations in Boston. Amtrak from other destinations (primarily New York) comes to South Station. The Downeaster to Maine (also Amtrak) leaves from North Station. You'd have to take a taxi or public transit to get from South Station to North Station if you want to continue your journey by train. The Downeaster only goes as far as Brunswick so that's where you would be starting your vacation, unless you got off in Portland (not a bad idea), spend a few days in our lovely small city, and then head further afield in a rental vehicle.

Alternatively, you could get on a bus (Concord Coach) at South Station and come to Maine that way. The busses are very clean and run frequently. You could take the bus to Portland or continue on to Bangor. From Bangor, you'd need to rent a car (or truck) and then you could head to Acadia National Park (Mt. Desert island), Schoodic Point, or a million other coastal locations. Or, you could head inland to the mountains and visit Baxter State Park, Katahdin Woods and Mountains National Monument, go rafting on the Penobscot or again, a few dozen other options. Maine is a big beautiful state with tons to see and do.

I think June is a wonderful month to visit. Things are open but the state is not overrun with tourists since they don't tend to arrive until July and August. September and October are also beautiful. And of course the summer is fine, just be prepared for more people. I'd avoid March and April is also pretty iffy.

Thanks for this information which I didn't know. I am also a long-term Dead River customer and I also have felt like there was a change but I didn't know why. For years, the tech who came to my house was Rick. When I called for my annual service appointment, I made a comment about Rick and the woman snapped at me, "We don't have anyone working here named Rick. I don't know what you are talking about." Really? Maybe it is time for a change.

Sheepscot Chorus to Sing “Messiah” on December 3 and 4

Sheepscot Chorus invites you to join us “Handel and Christmas Pops!” concert on Saturday, December 3 at 3:00 PM, and Sunday, December 4, at 3:00 PM, at the Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church. Handel’s Messiah will be featured; performed with professional soloists and chamber orchestra. “Messiah is often enjoyed as a sing-along, but concert performances like this are harder to come by,” says director Linda Blanchard. “There’s something special about being able to share such a towering masterwork with our community.” Messiah will feature the vocal talents of soprano Jennifer Bates, alto Joëlle Morris, tenor Jesse Wakeman, and bass John David Adams.

Holiday Pops favorites accompanied by a chamber orchestra will round out the second half of the program. A highlight will be one of Robert Shaw’s arrangements of Christmas carols, The Many Moods of Christmas, Suite IV. Co-director and accompanist Sean Fleming has a knack for bringing together top-notch musicians for our holiday pops orchestra, sure to set toes tapping!

Go to http://www.purplepass.com/sheepscotchorusmessiah2022 to buy tickets now. Tickets are also available Sherman’s in Boothbay Harbor and Damariscotta, and Treats in Wiscasset. It's actually the University of Southern Maine (USM) but if you are going to the law school (which is on the USM campus) it is the University of Maine School of Law. Someone will correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe there is any on campus housing on the Portland campus of USM (where the law school is). They are building a dorm (I think) but right now, all the dorms are on the Gorham campus, which is about a 30 minute commute to get to Portland.
