Only if you view it from the lens of today, not what it is in the past. Hell, up north we have to Deal with Quebec wanting to succeed from Canada every couple decades, and now Alberta. I won't view them as treacherous, just moronic, since they don't have the capacity to support themselves as a sovereign nation.

Welcome to globalism. If you want a world where you can buy something from halfway across the world, where products and culture can pass through borders easily, you're gonna have to accept you won't have 100% control over the things you export.

The phrase "global warming" has been damaging to what the actual environmental movement should be about. The Earth has endured and overcome many global catastrophes that have wiped out species, it would be arrogant to think that humans will permanently damage the planet. No, what the environmental movement should advertise more is that it's about self preservation of our relatively comfortable lifestyles, and peace that people have enjoyed in the last several decades.
At the rate we're going in our exploitation of the planet's resources we will head to societal collapse, either from the destruction of our current living environments, or from the infighting we will have when we compete over limited resources. It will be like the dark ages after the fall of Rome.

It will be interesting to see how warfare will be conducted between nations with strong military, and strong computing capabilities, especially with how much more technology has been integrated into our daily lives, and structure. Take Canada for example, last year a bad BGP update caused a nationwide communications outage for those using Rogers (because for some reason our government won't do anything about our ISP oligarchy, and we practically get only 3 choices for internet providers). That outage even though it lasted a day impacted so many people, and affected many core services like hospitals, and effected many businesses. That through accident too, I can only imagine what intentionally attacks on national IT infrastructure would be like, and how much chaos it would cause.
