I grew up in York (the actual town) and YWK has always been sad, it’s a tourist trap, nothing more.

I’ve always referred to it as a “amusing” park, only thing marginally entertaining were the go-karts.

They make the most adorable noises too (see the YouTube channel for Teddy Bear the Po’Pine) that trigger a “Must Hug” reaction, but that would be bad…

And of course it’s going to be cloudy in my area….

CURSE YOU MOTHER NATURE! (And Perry the Platypus)

I was living in Vermont when there was a big display of Northern Lights (it was somewhere between 2003-2005, I don’t remember the exact date, but it was absolutely gorgeous (much like the linked picture)

If I;

A; didn’t hate automatics so much

B; didn’t want to pay for the fuel mileage penalty of a V8

C; didn’t prefer a usable cabin like a wagon/hatchback …

I’d have seriously considered a P71, and I have no desire to ‘be a cop’, I just appreciate a dead simple body on frame chassis and rear wheel drive (especially in the winter ;) )

Agreed, the P71 is for someone who wants a simple, durable, reliable car that’s relatively cheap to fix, and has decent performance.

The Town Car is for someone who wants a La-Z-Boy on wheels and who doesn’t care about handling

Downside of both? The fuel mileage of a big V8

I’ve seen him around the York area, he’s definitely a nicer guy than the person who drives around the LIFTED P71 Crown Vic that looks like what happens when a P71 and a Police Explorer SUV love each other very much…

CMP’s unofficial nickname of “Can’t Maintain Power” is there for a reason…

I grew up in York (Frost Hill Road) and have lived in Maine for 50+ years, and in all that time, CMP has been consistently inconsistent, power is so unreliable that they have trouble maintaining it on a sunny day, let alone in inclement weather…

I had all my sensitive electronics on oversized UPS backups for a reason…

Back in the late ‘90s, I was skiing at Crotched Mountain (just outside the Keene area) where summit temperatures in still air were -52F, it was great! I was all bundled up in ski gear and had the mountain to myself (and a couple college friends)

Around 2005, I was living in Vermont (Barre area) and it was -30F for at least a couple weeks…

Porcupines also make the most adorable noises that trigger an instinctive “MUST HUG!” reaction, thus proving Mother Nature has a truly twisted sense of humor…

In the spirit of ‘god makes things’…

God; I’ve got ANOTHER great idea!

Angel; (groans in anticipation) what now, Sir….

G; you know those beavers I made yesterday?

A; make them venomous?

G; …no, but I like your creativity! Maybe I’ll use that idea in another mammal… no this time, take the beaver, and replace its flat paddle tail with a regular tail…

A; and a stinger? Right?

G; no, and I resent your implication that I’m becoming predictable, Jeremy… just make this one fuzzy, long fur this time…

A; this sounds too good to be true, where’s the evil twist?…

G; and make it make adorable noises that trigger a Hug reflex, kinda like those Mogwai I’m making next week….

A; this one actually sounds nice, a cuddly, friendly critter that makes you want to hug it… but let me guess, it sprays a stinky fluid from its butt?

G; GREAT IDEA, I’M STEALING IT!… but not for this one….

A; ….I’m waiting…. It’s inevitable, a cuddly, huggable critter just sounds too suspicious, knowing you…

G; COVER IT WITH BARBED SPINES UNDER THE FUR! AND THE SPINES ARE HARD AND PAINFUL TO REMOVE, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO ACTUALLY HUG IT!…

Snow tires are worth their weight in Gold-Pressed-Latinum!, especially in the snowier regions.

It’s not just the tread pattern, but the rubber compound, “all season” tire rubber loses flexibility below 40F, winter tires are designed to remain flexible below 40F…

Of course, that also means they wear much more rapidly at temperatures above 40F, and the more flexible sidewalk makes them feel “squishier” in corners.

Hampton will give you the unpredictability of the Ocean Effect, depending on the storm it’ll either keep snowfall down, or boost it and ice storms will be more common near the coast

Derry is further inland (in the Manchester area) and gets more snow than ice

Salem is somewhere in between…
