People have been saying this since the early 2000’s. Much like Jersey City, there are parts of Newark closer to the path that have slowly become more gentrified, but there are also deep pockets of both places that don’t have great access to public transit and because of that will not even be flipped into neighborhoods with white people taco spots and boutique coffee shops.

Unfortunately there is not. There are some people in this thread saying the spot on Westside Ave is good, but unfortunately it is not. There’s a serious lack of good pho here. Kung Fu gets the job done but it doesn’t blow me away.

I live at an intersection where this is a huge problem ( jersey and Mercer). I make a point to stop in the middle of the street when a car is about to run the stop sign so that they know it’s actually a stop sign and feel stupid for almost hitting me. I yell and make sure they know it’s a stop sign. 99% of the time, people get mad at me and yell back something to the tune of “fuck you”. I am so beyond over it that I am ready to physically fight someone the next time this happens. This city is truly such a fucking joke.

Place is disgusting. Service is horrible. Bagels are just ok. They toast the bagels in a fucking George Forman grill, pressing them down to almost nothing. The line out the door is embarrassing. The only reason people think it’s good is because it’s the only bagel place downtown. Once the new spot opens and it’s hopefully decent, people will realize what a joke wonder bagel is.

Because this city is run by morons who are corrupt and don’t care. Aside from the fact that things like that take a ton of time. They’d rather build high rises instead of buying out plots of land to make into parks. Though I will say, for how stupid van vorst dog park is, liberty state park is right there. It’s very underutilized and I’m happy to go there with my dogs and have some peace and fucking quiet.

As someone who stopped bringing their dogs to van vorst I agree. It’s too small. All the dog parks downtown are just too small to accommodate how many people have dogs and rely on a dog park to exercise their dog. At a certain point, van vorst gets so full that it’s actually pointless to even have dogs in there. It’s very very stupid.
