It's so odd the idea of Jack Kerouac doing stuff like being in the army and a college football team considering how so much of his work is spent rejecting the American middle class ideals and throwing himself into counter culture. It's kind of like Trotsky going to work as a bank manager.

There's also a tribe in Vanuatu who have a creation myth that involves their first queen leaving across the ocean to marry a god. So when the British turned up and told them about queen Elizabeth the 2nd they decided that prince Phillip must be god.

To be fair, they went from hardcore punk to anarchist rave to protest folk. So there's no real Chumbawamba sound

Ten good shots I'll take them all

Reply to comment by absolutelyshafted in TIL The Indian dish Vindaloo originates from the Portuguese dish "Carne de Vinha D’alhos" which was brought to India by Vasco da Gama who also introduced chilli peppers to India. by memboww
A large portion of the chefs on British passenger boats to and from India were Goan, as they tended to be Catholic and thus could cook with pork beef and alcohol (the original vindaloo was cooked with pork and wine). Hence why the dish became popular. When a broader range of Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis started serving Indian food in Britain, vindaloo already had an association with upper class Indian food, though they couldn't cook with pork and wine, so it got changed to an almost entirely new dish.

It's the lyrics that get me. Like you can get a rock song with amazing lyrics that speak right to your soul, but then rap can just shoot it out the air like a machine gun in 4 lines and keep gunning that strong for an entire song
