If you’re trying to minimize transfers and hassle, what might be easiest is to fly into Newark Liberty and then take northeast regional Amtrak train (which has a stop at the airport) straight to New Haven. Amtrak can be pricey though if you don’t book well in advance. Alternatively, fly into LGA or JFK, take bus/cab/subway to Grand Central, and then local Metro North train to New Haven.

I take a longer route walking to work to go to the second closest dunks to my office, because the closest one routinely gives me not-very-cold iced coffee where all the cubes will melt really fast. It’s awful. The second closest one is phenomenally reliable though, same group of women who work there every day and they are wonderful.
