I'm making an outdoor structure using pine wood. It's a small load bearing unit that will be used on a balcony. As I'm in the UK, it's going to be exposed to the elements a bit and so it needs to be waterproofed. I intend to leave it out on the balcony all year round so don't want to have to do may touch ups.
Basically all I need to know is what can I use to get a dark brown colour on the pine, but with a waterproof coating. I don't want any rot in a load bearing structure... any recommendations for a product or group of products available in the UK?
I've looked into varnishes, enamels, stains etc but seemingly found conflicting information
