Reply to Did anyone in this hobby ever stop buying new gear because they found what they were looking for? by sujanfloofens
I found what I'm looking for, and I can't imagine music sounding better than it does now. Any change I would make at this point would essentially just be preference rather than an upgrade, and frankly the upgrades at this point cost entirely too much to justify. Even if I did want more, I wouldn't be able to afford it, so I'm more than happy with where I'm at.
My current chain is Audio GD DI-20 outputting IIS --> Audio GD Reference 1 --> heavily modded Bottlehead Crack with great tubes --> ZMF Verite Closed Leopardwood.

I'm still waiting for the faithful day you trade the budget-fi hoard for some summit-fi stuff. I know it's coming. One day.
Jokes aside, do you find yourself rotating out everything you brought? I actually had to downsize because any time I had more than one headphone or iem, they never got even use.

Reply to comment by ku1185 in I don't get the "frequency response graph" thing. by ICrySaI
That's essentially what I was getting to in the second part of my post. It's the only objective measurement a reviewer can provide that has a useful basis for comparison for the average person.

You're going to get downvoted a lot for this observation, but you are right. Frequency response is separate from soundstage, imaging, detail, and dynamics, though the general consensus on reddit is that fr is responsible for all aspects of a headphone's sound.
Reviewers provide frequency response in their reviews because it's one of the only objective factors in sound quality they can provide. EQ can be very helpful in fixing a headphone's flaws, but many people don't want to deal with that, and I suspect that's why many reviewers emphasize frequency response. It's much easier to just buy a headphone that's well tuned from the start.

10,000 Days and Fear Inocolum by Tool; I can listen to either of those front to back and get entirely immersed in the music.

Reply to Why do people buy more than thousand dollar headphones instead of speakers? by BC_LOFASZ
I'm a college student living in my parents home. Every penny I saved from working, birthday, and Christmas money went into my setup. Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of being able to play music loud, nor do I have the proper space for a speaker setup. Given this, headphones are the best I could do, and I'm plenty happy with how I've spent my money.
