It works every time I have needed it, unless I was holding my phone at an extremely unusual angle.

My wife uses the Apple battery pack. She likes it. I don’t really know how to gauge “best” but it works well for her uses.

The 14 Plus doesn't have an ability to take close up shots. The Pro and Pro Max would switch to the ultrawide lens at that distance to give a clear photo.
