The camera on iPhones especially the non pro versions relies on some excellent processing, but it's relatively smaller sensor and lack of true optical zoom means it's zoom performance is always a bit hit or miss, especially in poor light or challenging lighting.

And the current software algorithm is also being a bit odd in places which is not helping

Airpods are convenient and have apple centric features. Which is why they sell.

There are lot of other products that are better sounding or better value, but between the lack of branding/ awareness and most purchasers prefering to avoid very detailed research, airpods remain the preferred option for apple users
