Reply to [DISCUSSION] what is your favorite thing to do to get motivated after having a bad day? by [deleted]
I have a planner for balancing my work, and balancing my life. I specifically put in cute stickers, use pretty colors, and leave myself notes such as "Dream big!" and "You're worth it!"
I also specifically restrict how much space lists work appointments. This is to remind myself that work is only a part of my day, not my whole life. I don't use a day planner that lists time slots so that work doesn't take it over.
I actually use the planner put out by Sarah's Scribbles. If you google it, you'll find pictures.

Then maybe your tip should be about how to apply knowledge instead of focusing on the gathering portion.
You've made it sound like it's useless to gather knowledge unless you intend to use it.

And, yet, I am quite content knowing about the largest irradiated lake in the world without using that knowledge for my own gain.
You cannot dismiss the fact that possessing knowledge does have its own power. Personal satisfaction can be very motivating to people.
