I’d look at rush hour times but I was doing a little digging within 50 mins of N Attleboro during non-rush hour is a huge area. If it was me and I had over 1 mil to budget I’d consider a number of places, first if I was still trying to be sort close to the city then: Arlington (I’m in Arlington now), Cambridge, Belmont, Brookline, Newton, Lexington, Wayland, Brighton, Hingham, Brookline, Bedford, Weston, Cochituate, Westwood, Milton, and Shrewsbury, Westborough, and Sharon (no specific order). I’d map out all those during rush that would can eliminate some of them right out the bat if your looking to be near the city. If doable, I think Milton and Hingham have the most pristine beauty out of those spots and it’s not too much pain in the ass to get into the city.
If you are sick of Boston, and had your fill then maybe it’s time to look into Rhode Island. If you’re looking for safety but a place that is not too boring with good schools maybe Barrington, Bristol, Kingston, Tiverton/Portsmouth, East Greenwich, Jamestown, Narragansett, Newport (not great schools), Middletown, Portsmouth or Tiverton. Honestly N Attleboro is a fairly nice, nothing remarkable but it has some charm. You could get into MTB there are some pretty good trails nearby there. If it was me and I wasn’t glued to my job I’d go for Middletown/Bristol area as I love to surf and I love the beach and it’s really pretty there with decent nightlife and pretty safe with better schools than Newport and closer to your job but easily accessible to Newport. Hope this helps narrow your search down a little bit

I don’t if unsafe means exciting. A lot of the small cities you mentioned are not that exciting. If he is looking for excitement maybe a place that has naturally beauty yet still stuff to do or has decent public transit to Boston yet is still in a pretty area.

Reply to Best Indian restaurant in Massachusetts? by gwhizz79
I like Punjabi Dhaba (Cambridge) and Masala (Somerville). I live by Arlington for 3 days a week and I have about 20 Indian restaurants within 20 mins…been to 6 of them so far. I live by the Cape on the weekends and I think Golden Swan is solid but not great, I think the two places that I listed are better. I think Ayur Shri in Dartmouth is decent, the takeout time there is ridiculously long though.

I think you’re right, the USCG is the lead for navigable hazards in the waterway….I don’t have experience with swing bridges but I’ve only dealt with USACE and USFWS for the 11 bridges that I’ve done. Both USCG and USACE are both involved when there are Navigable Waters of the US. Lift bridges, bascule, swing bridges, etc. (movable bridges) involve the USCG usually because of clearance issues. Usually the USACE are involved for Waterways of the US, under Rivers and Harbor Act and CWA (section 404) for any stream altering, erosion, fill, dredging etc. I think you’re right in this case Coast Guard is the prime agency but USACE and FHWA are definitely going to be involved with this one as well. I hope they do high clearance fixed bridge of sorts to minimize traffic, it would help triage jams along I-93. Has Massdot done a Bridge Type Selection study yet, and how do they have dollar figure for the cost of it without knowing the type of bridge and I don’t think they’ve released an RFP yet, I was looking and I couldn’t find anything online.

Reply to How to contact MIT by [deleted]
Email and see if you can schedule a zoom with someone with admissions. Guessing by your post that you’re trying to develop a personnel contact to increase your chances, “not how to contact them.”With any organization you have to do some investigating and try to use some finesse when reaching out. If you get in be prepared for very long hours, my advisor went there for undergrad and graduate school and he said he was putting on average over 70 hours a week. I put in around 50ish hours in my grad program so a super prestigious degree also requires a lot of pain and sacrifice. FYI, one of my cousins didn’t get in there for undergrad or PhD and he won the Texas science fair for high school-age students and graduated from Stanford with a master’s degree and he works on rockets, so expect to be rejected unless you’re in the top 0.3 percent of your class or have something really making you stand out. Also, a ton of international students at MIT so I don’t think they’ll discriminate against you because you’re from India. Maybe someone in this subreddit goes to MIT, almost all of my professors are MIT graduates and they love to remind us that they went to MIT (I go to Tufts nearby a very good school but not super elite like Harvard or MIT).

Engineer here, I’ve never heard of that requirement. Ask the agent to cite where that is coming from…it might be local requirement.
