That's accurate. Also, to add on the 'desegregation busing' had an effect.. I think here in Richmond busing was approved and started in 1970.

Even now privileged people living in the city self segregate k-12 education, but now on the basis of affluence (the private schools in the near west end of the city).

I don't anticipate this bridge being repaired and/or reopened in the next 3 years.

Because, I've recently posted on here how another city of Richmond infrastructure project (Jahnke Road Improvement Project) has been delayed for 4+ years and the publicly posted reason has been "ongoing construction scheduling coordination with the railroad company". And, this project is fully federally funded but still it is being delayed so much.

If the city doesn't immediately have the funding for the full replacement, then there could be a 5+ year process of city leaders addressing it with urgency, soliciting design proposals from qualified architectural/engineering firms, going through the paces of the public bid and procurement process, and finally planning and completing the construction.

I'd love for the site of the casino to be a new manufacturer. I'm not sure what type of business that would be, but surely the city could court some global company to choose this lot as an investment location? The area is already built up for manufacturing and storage.

Instead Richmond is choosing to dig their heels in.

I've started riding the bus recently and it's exceeded my expectations. It's been very clean and not too late most of the time. But, you should always go by the real times from the gps bus tracking on the app. It's been good to me to substitute at least 50% of my car driving, not the best to rely on completely (since most of the bus stops don't have any shelter or benches).

My only gripe is that many parts of the city and county haven't developed sidewalks or safe areas to bicycle in. There's bus service out to the Broad street intersection of Innsbrook. But, so what? You get dropped off in a ditch or gutter on the side of the road.
