Fantastic advice. Alcoholic here, but haven’t touched a drop in 2.5 years. Try to just embrace it and not worry too much about some of the goofy religious stuff in AA. Have an open and willing mind. After all, life is getting bad enough that you’re asking for help. Try not to put up any walls…I did that initially and I had to let me defenses down to make actual progress. AA isn’t perfect but it saved my life and marriage.

Wood hustler signing in. Been running my wood stove on free wood for past two seasons. Doesn’t exclusively heat my house, still use the furnace but it lets me reduce run time. Gotta be willing to go out there and grab wood when the opportunity arises, or keep an eye out for landscapers who are trying to dump their wood. I managed to snag a couple cords for free from big maples that were dropped here in town, that’s carrying me pretty far this season. It can be a lot of work splitting and stacking but…it’s exercise and time outside I suppose.

Can I be your friend? I love learning about trees and how forests change depending on their age. I know there’s a few “old growth” forests, which one would you suggest visiting to really appreciate the difference compared to a “new” growth forest? Is there any chance theres pockets of original growth forest in areas like Meriden mountain for example that just are not officially considered old growth?
