Reply to TiL that in order to make their triple album, "Sandinista!", affordable for their fans, the Clash let go of any royalties made on the first 200,000 copies sold in the UK. by thewickerstan
Though at the time it didn't get a lot of critical acclaim, I really enjoyed that album. I remember listening to it over and over in college. I think I'll listen to the whole thing again today.

Every time this song comes on I angrily say "I can't believe Carly Simon wrote a cruel song about me. I've never even met the bitch!"

Reply to comment by Jk2two in TIL the former members of Timbuk 3 have refused to license the song "The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades" for commercials, including a $900,000 offer from AT&T and offers from Ford, the U.S. Army, and Bausch & Lomb for their Ray-Ban sunglasses. by big_macaroons
It's what the writer of the song said. It's about a smart guy who studies physics and ends up building a bomb that wipes out humanity. (Most of that doesn't come out in the song, I'll grant you.) The thing that's so bright is the bomb going off.

Reply to TIL part of a Teletubbies episode was actually banned in some countries for supposedly being too scary. by thedubiousstylus
My oldest son couldn't watch the show. The fact that there was a baby in the sun freaked him out. He'd start crying and saying that the baby would get burnt and to get it out.

Yes, there is a big difference between "rich" and "extremely rich."
