I'm going to go against the grain and recommend where I live because I love it and don't want to deprive someone of this great place. Bellingham seems exactly like what you're looking for, tons of nature and lots of great breweries although not the friendliest people. Not like they are mean but just tend to keep to themselves so it can be hard to make friends. There are lots of community events though.
If I were in your shoes though I would go for glacier or mazama, really get out in the wilderness and away from any kind of city.

Just make sure you have chains in the car and you're fine. The weather is really unpredictable, could be completely dry road or could be 3 feet of snow. They are pretty good about plowing but we get warm snow here often which gets mashed into the slickest sheet of ice. Completely doable drive but just be prepared.

Crescent lake and the Hoh rainforest are amazing hiking and paddling and you're close to la push to get some beach time in all within an hours drive. Crescent lake as a very long paved trail going around the lake a s well, great for biking.
