I usually pity patients with self-destructive behaviors more.
It's awful to see a person deteriorate and die due to a preventable and/or treatable disease despite all the healthcare professionals efforts.
It's a shame that a person with healthy habits gets sick or die. But I've seen many of them fight bravely against the odds, do their best and when they die, I don't pity them, I admire them.
