You trust drivers to always obey “no turn on red” signs but not to check before they turn?
Pedestrians and drivers still need to look, if right on red is allowed or not.

What? If it's a side street and there's no one else anywhere at the intersection, how is it “not safe for anyone”?

You live in a city. Weed is legal and highly regulated. Dispensaries cause less problems than liquor stores or many businesses. Let them do their thing and you do yours.

That’s misleading because Saudi Aramco is cashing in on years of investing in extraction tech and infrastructure. That investment is why we’ve had cheap oil for the last 15 years.
They changed their thinking a few years ago and have decided, given the accelerated pace of the energy transition, to invest a lot less and take near term profits.

Not just the pipeline. NIMBYs also killed Cape Wind, the grid connection to hydro in Canada, the Pilgrim nuclear power station, ... We've lost countless opportunities to diversify our grid and generation sources.

What?
Even if moving plants to oil and setting up the supply lines could be done in a timeframe that helped this winter, using less gasoline in Boston will do zero for helping that.

The article is about natural gas, not gasoline. Saving on gasoline won’t help us this winter.
It’s also not that dire. They’re talking about if we get a very cold winter and have severe shortages on imported natural gas, then we should be ready to take reasonable steps like suspending the Jones act to allow non-US ships to transport gas between US ports.
There’s no cause to reduce speed limits which would cripple Boston’s already terrible traffic.

I've never had a problem with mine. Use a good U lock, or two, and you'll be fine. Theft isn't that common and it's all either $10k bikes or ones with a cheap cable lock.

Anything w/ bodily fluids you can still trash. So just pee on your mattress before you put it out on the curb.

Q 1 is forward looking and would start in the 2022 tax year at the earliest. The refunds are for what people already paid.

This is Cambridge PD's most recent crime report:
https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/23132614-bridgestat_september2022_final
Central really has gotten bad. And crime across Cambridge is way up over the last 5 years:
| 2017 | 2022 -- | -- | -- rape | 13 | 29 agg assault | 137 | 180 robbery | 36 | 67 auto theft | 69 | 127

Tax rates, per $1,000 of value:
| Cambridge | Boston | Brookline -- | -- | -- | -- Residential | $5.86 | $10.56 | $10.19 Commercial | $10.38 | $24.92 | $16.56
Does anyone know what the Cambridge rates are so low compared to neighboring cities? Is it because we have so much pharma and tech offices and labs?

You don't need any income to take out a reverse mortgage. If you own a $1.5m home, you're a millionaire. Pretending you can't pay Cambridge's very low property taxes is ridiculous.

Things like question 1 have been proposed a number of times and always lost. People don’t like to vote for raising taxes, even if they’re not affected. It was always going to be an uphill battle and I’m honestly surprised it passed.
Even with the huge amount of money spent ($31m!) and support from the teachers union and all of the Dem leaders (Warren, Healey, Wu, …) it was still really close.
