I don't think you fucked up, because you shouldn't have to guard yourself from family, but now you know. It seems like you know the best course of action is just to live your own life and not really interact with them anymore. They obviously don't respect you, and people like that just aren't worth your time.

Good on you! Most people will say "oh, they made it right so I'm not going to report them" because they're only thinking about themselves. But you went out of your way to do the right thing and might have helped those people get that money back. I love to see it.
