Eno's stuff is brilliant studio work.
Try Homogenic by Bjork as well as Vespertine.
They're really hypnotic.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is my favorite book. I recently dove into his other works again and I hate to admit, some of it doesn’t hold up and some of it is simply not good. But he was one of a kind and his moments of brilliance are unmatched.

Reply to A rant about Maggot Brain... by wtanz
Is Maggot Brain a solo though? It's the entire song. It's a composition.
I agree it's phenomenal and Maggot Brain the album is one of my favorites, but when discussing guitar solos I think people mean the 20-30 second tear in the middle of a song.
Maggot Brain is a piece as much as Bach or Beethoven

Here's a thought. Can you look at the book objectively and not as the work of a friend? If his choices are bad for everyone who doesn't know him, then he made a book for a limited group of people, and maybe no one but himself. So what would be the point of publishing independently instead of saying, making 10 copies and handing them out? Anyone can do it "their way" that doesn't make it good or right or appealing to anyone but the writer. Sounds like he made personal journal.

I'm a reader of memoirs, biographies and autobiographies as I fell out of love with novels. Truth can be stranger, and sometimes more fascinating than fiction.
If you're a person who like info delivered to you, you should pick up some autobiographies of people you like or people involved in the subjects you like. Could be what you're missing.

At 51, All I read is non fiction, but I didn’t think that was everyone’s path. I just feel truth is stranger than fiction and enjoy the crazy life and times and formative years of famous writers, musicians, actors and politicians.

Reply to Albums that loosely follow a radio theme by eldeniro
Janelle Monae Electric Lady does this. It’s a radio broadcast with some short interviews, a DJ, call in clips, etc. it doesn’t bog down the album. It’s effective. Awesome album too.
