Are you an expert on police fleet management? These vehicles are run 24/7 365 days a year and get best to shit. I do agree that moving to EVs is the right move tho.

I’m glad you’re an expert on police fleets and replacement time lines! Do you know how much money they would save by not having a gas engine idling nearly 24/7 as many of these vehicles do?

Okay, let’s not pretend schools are “defunded” tho, which seems to constantly be pushed on here.

You should join the NYPD and advocate for this! Also, the NYPD had the least amount of police related shootings of any major department in this country, they’re not going around doing drive-bys.

Yeah, cut from the officers making top pay of 85K to give to someone making 42K, sounds reasonable.

Yea, that was/is state money from the governor thought, unclear if that’s included in this figure or not.

That would make sense, but progressives would have a fit, so instead we force the current cops to work inhumane amounts of overtime and start them at $42k in the most expensive city in the country.

Yea, not sure why this is hard to figure out. The NYPD is short 1000+ officers from their budgeted headcount, and facing unprecedented levels of resignations.

How much of this overtime is due to the NYPD facing unprecedented resignations and being 1000+ officers short of their budgeted headcount?

Which makes sense considering Manhattan has the highest cost of living of any of the boroughs. Another “reddit fallacy”
