I got it because the name George RR Martin came up somewhere, saying to myself "this can't be wrong.. it just can't, that guy is brilliant", and once I got into the story (after 130+ hours, because it was overwhelming) it hit me and I couldn't let it go for another 200+ hours. It is indeed a good game, but indeed not for everyone.

And, if you are right, they did something awful to pull in players for profit, I don't like these marketing shenanigans.

Maybe I should've said that this is not true... it's more like a combination of witcher, skyrim and some souls game. I personally don't like dark souls, I really love witcher, and I love elden ring more, it hits on another level.

I am not criticizing your comment, I upvoted it, I just don't agree about the souls games lovers. It's definitely not fun, at all, it's a very serious game, maybe too serious or cringe, but its complexity and logic/math requirements are almost close to the Dota 2 gameplay. IMO ER is an open world masterpiece, totally deserve the price and it has little to do with the linear stuff from souls games (I never played any other souls game, but I know those are linear from my brother).

I think you are wrong. It's about its complexity, and variety of possibilities, which, if you choose the wrong one, you will find yourself in difficulty going past a certain point, but at the same time there is no wrong choice.

I bet none of the ER players finished the game without googling something at least once.
