I heard an interview with one of the writers where they said they conceptualized the show in blocks of 3 episodes with a 2 episode finale and episode 7 being a sort of transition. 1-3 are about the fallout of cassian murdering those guards, 4-6 are about the heist, 7 is the fallout from the heist. 8-10 are the prison break and the last two wrap up all the storylines. So your experience isnt unusual.

Listen, my uncles a millionaire, and he didnt get there by spending money on dumb shit all the time. Just, ya know, some of the time. Your MIL probably knows exactly how important it is to save when and where you can. My uncles favorite thing to do is shine on people he loves and cares about. He loves to be generous when he can. I really wouldnt worry about offending your MIL, you probably made her feel useful and good.

Returning to practical effects is a huge trend rn. Ofc they have a future. Any good director is gonna talk about how important it is to them to capture as much as possible in camera. Examples would he faverou with mando, nolan with Oppenheimer, giannachi in werewolf by night, just to name a few.

this applies to lord of the rings too. in jacksons first trilogy, gandalf uses magic like all of 3 times and he generally just uses it to start a fire or shine a bright light, or talk to a butterfly(i dont remember exactly). gandalf spends most of the trilogy using diplomacy to bring nations and factions into aragorns alliance against sauron so that the white city and the rohirrim can be saved, which also serves the purpose of distracting saurons focus from frodo. this politicking is infinitly more interesting than gandalf mowing down rows of orcs with flashy magic, ala scarlet witch vs kamar taj.

Apparently the network buried it. Its showing in 3/4ts of ohio and less than half of texas despite the Bengals and cowboys not playing in that time slot. Also texans are selling steeply discounted tickets, so it will probably be sparsely attended. There will be monday morning takes in the monday morning takes-verse of Monday morning sports shows, and the odd op ed written by someone who does not watch the NFL in mainstream media sites, I'm sure, but it doesn't seem like an "event" right now.
