This sounds like such a baller concept, added to my TBR

I've read the books many times and loved them every time, but I recognise they are kind of odd. When I was a kid, I always interpreted the adults' incompetence as a satire of the 'we know better' attitude that a lot of adults adopt whenever a kid tries to tell them something is wrong

Ooooo Cormac McCarthy is excellent. So far I've read blood meridian, all the pretty horses and the road.

Interestingly, I noticed the Hannibal Lecter trilogy gets lower ratings from books 1-3. I think it's not because they're worse, but because they're more disturbing (which is obviously what Harris was going for). I remember finishing the last one and just thinking I'll never be able to unread that...

You do you! I find it interesting how varied people's attitudes to books can be. Personally I love it when a friend lends me a book that has scribbles in it, just don't want to do it myself.

Same here, I never do it myself but I like finding them in secondhand books.

Have to admit this made me physically recoil lmao. I try my best to keep my books pristine, even some of my favourites still don't have creased spines. I lent a book to a friend recently and he gave me back a different, brand new, copy because he accidentally spilt coffee on it. I wouldn't have noticed at all if he hadn't fessed up.

Reply to comment by Just-QeRic in I just finished reading The Running Man by Stephen King. It was a fantastic book, and I’m unsure why others disagree. by ALittleInternet
The Long walk was the first king book I read, when I was 14. I've read it about 7 or 8 times since and it never gets any less harrowing.

GRRM has said he doesn't want anyone to finish the series if he dies tho. I'm pretty sure he said he would go so far as to burn his notes
