So you were still working while getting treatment? Were you not eligible for FMLA? I'm trying to figure out if they laid you off while you were under medical care. Right now, you can sign up for unemployment. Also, look into financial aid from your health provider.

I guess I would get a student loan then. If your parents won't give you info for the fasfa can't you become an independent?

Aacoring to what you wrote you have a year to take care of it before you possibly move out of the states, get a part-time job now and pay it off.

Too bad. At this point, I would continue to make the minimum payment on your credit card each month until you can find a new job and then worry about paying it off. Your credit score will increase once it's under 30% of the credit limit. Use the funds you have to take care of your basic needs for now.
