Its the characters and interactions that will get you into it. The plot points you know won't ruin your enjoyment. The sharp writing and the cringe jokes/situations will give you the double whammy of drama and comedy. Tom and Greg will certainly get you into it, if thats not the case, the expensive locations/apartments/mansions will at least give you disgusting property porn.

The Artist win wasn't necessarily unexpected...as it gained momentum heading into the awards season iirc. But it has some what faded out of public consciousness quite quickly. More so than its fellow nominees (Hugo, The Help, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, Tree of Life, War Horse, Extremely Loud....).

Though I don't think the field was particularly strong that year, out of all them, I only rewatch Moneyball.

I loved her in Knives Out and she played her returning Halloween character with such defiance and strength.

Though in saying that, I was very surprised on her win here, as I think the other performances was a bit more..how do I say..more substantial?

But like what other ppl say, a deserved lifetime award if you frame it as such.

As we have seen lately, starting up a streaming service is incredibly expensive and you will be doing it at a loss for some time. Disney+ I read made a loss of $1.5 billion last year but they can absorb that loss, nonetheless they are looking at their expenditure. Paramount+ too.

SONY didn't look like it had an appetite to start and compete in this market and do they have the content to justify one? Instead they were savvy to strike seals with Disney, Netflix, etc to sell/licence their movies and TV shows to them. Makes a tidy profit for them in the long run so they can concentrate on making tentpoles. Yes Venom 3 is coming.

From what I read in interviews, a lot of filmmakers (current ones and younger ones) are just in awe with his grasp of filmmaking. His ability to block out and edit a scene in his head and be able to articulate it, technically and emotionally, on the spot. A lot of us would struggle to just keep up. He has a lot to offer, still.
