Very interesting. Any idea where this gate was supposed to be? If it's the one at the Hunnewell House, it certainly doesn't look anything like that--perhaps it was replaced?

This is actually a great apartment for a BigLaw lawyer who moved way outside the city during the pandemic and whose firm is now requiring them to have a space near the office in order to keep them nearby on night when they have to work late, so yeah, you might be right!

Reply to Run groups In boston? by Icy_Ad7275
Marathon Sports does a weekly run group that is awesome for people who are mostly looking to have a good, casual time. They have a few locations--I used to go to the one in Brookline in Washington Square.
I'll also second Pioneers Run Crew and also throw in Forest Hills Runners as a very welcoming group.
If you're looking for a casual 5k for runners and walkers of every ability, you can go to Jamaica Pond parkrun or Danehy Park parkrun, which happen on Saturday mornings at 9 AM almost every week of the year. Totally free, and they're timed.

You'd be surprised who's a crypto expert. My cousin and several Uber drivers I've had are also really into it and I never would have known if they hadn't told me immediately.

My high school used to start at 8, but they switched it recently so that it starts between 8:30 and 9. I was really happy to see it (though sad I never got to enjoy it).

A hamstring injury. Running doesn't ruin your knees, really, but you have to be sure to stretch and strengthen to avoid overuse injuries.

I trained through many winters in bitter temps chasing big PRs at Super Sunday, New Bedford, and Boston clad head to toe in the warmest gear Tracksmith had to offer, but after my last injury, my hardcore switch flipped off and I no longer feel any need to go out in the cold or the dark. I miss it sometimes but the feeling of not being obligated to go run outside no matter the weather is, frankly, incredible.

That's funny. I stop running in the winter because it's too cold. I can't stand it!

The only place I can think of is Brookline Village around Linden Street. Is that anywhere close?

Reply to Who else is surprised Q4 was so close? by 737900ER
I'll preface this just in case by saying I'm VERY happy that Q4 passed and there was never any doubt for me that it should pass.
I talked to a friend who put forward two half-baked ideas for why they were voting No, both of which ended up being this person's crazy views on immigration. The first was that he said "I'm ok with immigration, if it's done properly." So, they were thinking that getting a driver's license was a benefit that should be reserved for tax-paying citizens and residents. When I told this person that undocumented people do pay taxes and that as high as 40% of Americans actually don't pay income taxes, they moved onto the next point, which was that this could lead to voter fraud. I explained that there are already groups of people who can hold driver's licenses but can't vote (green card holders), so there isn't much danger here, but then the conspiracy theory of "dead people voting" came up, as well as a more general "with all the weird voting stuff that's come up in the past several years, you can't be too careful." Obviously this is insane.
Long story short, this question of driver's licenses was conflated with myths about immigration, and that generated at least one 'No' vote. Perhaps there were more like this.
